Let’s talk about the pickle sandwich that took over TikTok.

I finally tried the Viral TikTok Picklewich, and honestly? It was weirdly addictive. If you love pickles even a little, you need to make this.

5-minute Pickle Sandwich

No bread. Just a giant pickle, stuffed like a sandwich.

It’s crunchy, salty, satisfying—and kind of hilarious to eat.

Why This Pickle Sandwich Is Blowing Up

viral pickle sandwich

 It’s low-carb. It’s totally over-the-top. And it’s fun to serve at parties.

This one makes a great lunch idea, but I also love slicing them in half and serving them as pickle appetizers for a game day spread or summer hangout. If you’re planning a DIY sandwich board or want a few pickle snack ideas, this is a must-try.

You can keep it classic, or add spicy mustard, pesto, or hot peppers to change it up.

I even tried a pesto sandwich version once, and it was 10/10.

Ingredients You’ll Need

picklewich ingredients

  • 1 Large Pickle

  • 1 Tablespoon Real Mayo

  • 2 Slices Turkey Lunch Meat

  • 1 Large Slice Tomato

  • 1 Large Slice Red Onion

  • 1 Slice American Cheese

  • 1 Large Leaf Romaine Lettuce

Items I Use:

  • Toothpicks (3 per pickle—trust me)

  • Paper Towels

How To Make A Picklewich

1- Slice the pickle in half, long ways.

2- Use a spoon to gently scoop out the middle seed portion of the pickle. Don’t scoop too deep as you want to leave some filling for support.

3- Use a paper towel to dab the pickles to dry them a bit.

4- Choose the pickle half that will be on the bottom. If it’s not sitting flat, flip it over so the outside of the pickle is facing up and use a knife to trim the bottom so it will sit flat.

5- Spread the mayo on the inside of the pickle where you scooped out the seeds.

Spread mayo in the scooped-out area.

6- Fold the lunch meat and place it in the hole, with a bit hanging over each side.

Fold the turkey and tuck it in with some hanging over the edge.

7- Cut the tomato and onion slices in half and add those to the sandwich, starting with the tomato. It will start getting tall at this point, so be careful it doesn’t fall apart on you.

Add the tomato and onion slices (cut them in half first!).

8- Cut the cheese slice in half and add it to the sandwich before adding the lettuce.

Add half a cheese slice and your lettuce on top.

9- Have the toothpicks ready and add the top of the pickle, lining it up with the other pickle half.

Slip a toothpick through the top of each end of the pickle pushing it all the way to the bottom of the sandwich, ending with a toothpick in the middle. This will keep it from falling apart.

10- Slice it in half and eat it right away!

Tips To Make This Pickle Sandwich Amazing

  • Eat this fresh. Don’t save it for later—it gets soggy.

  • Switch it up! Use ham, roast beef, or even pepper jack for extra kick.

  • Don’t skip trimming the bottom pickle flat. It saves the whole thing from tipping over.

  • Toothpicks are your best friend here. Stack carefully and don’t rush.

Make It Party-Worthy

bite sized pickle party sandwich appetizer

Want to turn this into a party recipe? Here’s how:

  • Make mini picklewiches with baby dill pickles for a tray of finger food.

  • Serve it next to cheese pickles, cucumber sandwich recipes, or even a cabbage sandwich for a quirky low-carb lunch buffet.

  • Slice each one into bite-size rounds and skewer with a mini fork or fancy toothpick—pickle sandwiches no bread style.

This is a pickle snack your guests won’t forget.

They might laugh, but they’ll definitely eat it.

The bottom line…

One warning though… if you don’t love pickles, this might not be your vibe.

But for the rest of us? I’ll be making this again. And probably tomorrow too!

Notes

●    I do not suggest storing this recipe once assembled. Best if eaten immediately.

●    You can use any sandwich toppings you prefer. You don’t have to stick with the ones I chose.

●    Have patience when stacking the sandwich and keeping it together. It can be a little slick, so don’t fret if you run into this issue, it happens to all of us, the toothpicks will be your
saving grace.

●    It makes things ten times easier to trim the bottom of the pickle half that will be acting as the bottom, before you start, because it’s not really possible after you’ve stacked it.
