Pro Tips for Success:

  • Thin, Even Slices Matter: For the best texture, slice your potatoes as evenly as possible. This helps them cook uniformly, giving you that perfect creamy, melt-in-your-mouth experience. If you have a mandoline slicer, use it! It will give you consistent, thin slices of potatoes.

  • Use Freshly Grated Cheese: Freshly grated gouda and parmesan melt better and have a richer flavor than pre-shredded cheese, which often contains anti-caking agents.

  • Add a Garlic Boost: For a flavor twist, add a minced garlic clove to the cream sauce. It will give your scalloped potatoes a subtle, savory depth that pairs perfectly with the cheese.
